Pedestrian killed in Weston-super-Mare hit-and-run

A 90-year-old pedestrian died when he was hit by a car which failed to stop in Weston-super-Mare.

The man was hit by the car in Clevedon Road at 1600 GMT and the road remains closed.

Officers appealed for witnesses and said the vehicle, a dark-coloured hatchback, would have a lot of damage to the windscreen and front nearside.

Avon and Somerset Police said the car was possibly a Peugeot 207 or a Rover 200.
