Witness appeal after fatal M4 crash near Bath

An appeal for witnesses is being made after a pedestrian died when he was hit by a car on the M4 near Bath.

A police spokesman said the man was a 33-year-old Indian national who lived in Southall, London.

He was walking beside the central reservation near Junction 18 on Monday night when he was hit by a Honda Integra.

The force spokesman said officers were trying to contact the man's family in the UK and India.

He said motorway signs had warned of a pedestrian in the carriageway and displayed a 50mph limit before the collision.

Anyone who saw the man walking on the motorway, or the collision, is asked to contact the force.
