Somerset housing trust to take on council play areas
A housing trust is planning to take ownership of 16 play areas belonging to Bath and North East Somerset Council.
Somer Community Housing Trust already leases the sites, together with five others in the district.
The council said the deal would provide "incentive for the trust to invest money into developing the play areas in line with the community wishes".
Of the remaining sites, three will be handed back to the council and two will continue to be leased to the trust.
Julie Evans, from Somer Community Housing Trust, said: "Taking ownership of these play areas will present us with some exciting opportunities to talk to residents about each site individually, about making the most of each location.
"These are highly-valued open spaces across the city and our priority will be to develop community-led projects that will make sure they remain a real asset."
