Bristol International Kite Festival under way

The Bristol International Kite Festival has got under way at Ashton Court Estate.

The event, in its 25th year, is running from 1200 BST to 1730 BST on Saturday and Sunday.

It attracts enthusiasts from as far afield as New Zealand, the Caribbean and Tasmania.

Displays include kite-fighting battles, routines flown to music, and air sculptures.

The festival is also celebrating 100 years of aviation in the West of England this year.

A press launch was held on the city's Downs on Thursday.
