Police have confirmed a body found in a river in Wakefield is that of a missing teenager.

Ben Manning's body was recovered from the River Calder at Thornes Lane Wharfe on Wednesday lunchtime by officers.

Police said Ben's family had been informed and his death was not being treated as suspicious.

The 17-year-old, of Swillington, Leeds, was last seen walking along Denby Dale Road in Wakefield at about 0130 GMT on 22 January.

He had been to watch a friend's band in The Black Flag on Smyth Street before he disappeared.

His family and friends had joined in searches of Wakefield city centre and the surrounding areas, and had been handing out leaflets.
