A third man has been arrested by police investigating an attack which left a rugby league supporter in a coma.

David Singer, 32, from Halifax, suffered serious head injuries when he was assaulted outside Halliwell Jones Stadium in Warrington on 26 September.

Mr Singer remains in a critical condition in a Leeds hospital.

Police said a 29-year-old Pontefract man was arrested on Friday and later released on bail. Two other men have already been questioned and bailed.

All three men are due to answer their bail in December.

Cheshire Police are still appealing for witnesses to come forward.
