Armed robbers strike at Smethwick jewellers


Armed robbers struck at jewellery shop in Smethwick, West Midlands.

Two men, both armed with guns, became trapped in Jai Jewellery, in Cape Hill, when the shop filled with smoke, on Wednesday afternoon.

They tried to break the front windows to escape, police said. A man inside the shop was was hit on the head and needed treatment from paramedics.

Two 26-year-old men have been arrested on suspicion of armed robbery. The scene was cordoned for public safety.
