Two men injured at Smethwick party shooting
Two men suffered serious injuries in a shooting at a bar in Smethwick, West Midlands.
Police were called to the Vietnam Bar in Wellington Street during the early hours after reports of gunshots.
A spokesman said firearms had been discharged both inside and outside the premises.
Shortly afterwards, two men attended hospital separately with gunshot wounds. A 21-year-old is in a critical condition and 31-year-old is also hurt.
His condition is described as stable, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
Police said there had been a private party inside the premises but many people left before police arrived.
The area has been cordoned off and forensic examinations are taking place.
Det Insp Tom Chisholm said police were keen to speak to anyone who had been at the party or who may have information.
"At this stage it is too early to speculate on the reasons for this incident and we continue to make inquiries into the nature of the party, and those who were in attendance," he said.
