Man in court over death of pedestrian struck in Birmingham
A man has appeared in court over the death of a pedestrian who was hit by a car which had been pursued by police.
Dil Bahadur Subedi, 45, was crossing Belgrave Middleway, Birmingham, on 26 March when he was struck.
Connor McCaugherty, 22, of no fixed abode, has been charged with causing death while disqualified from driving, common assault and other offences.
He was remanded in custody by Birmingham magistrates to appear at the city's crown court on 2 May.
Other charges against Mr McCaugherty include taking a vehicle without the owner's consent, driving without insurance and possession of cannabis.
Mr Subedi was treated by the ambulance service but he was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The car had been pursued from Short Heath Road in Erdington after the driver failed to stop, police said, but added they abandoned the pursuit before Mr Subedi was struck.
