Man in court over Wolverhampton house fire murder

A man has appeared in court accused of the rape and murder of a woman whose body was found after a house fire.

Lisa Skidmore, 37, was found strangled at her home in Mill Croft, Bilston, near Wolverhampton, on 24 November.

Leroy Campbell, 55, of Forest Road, Moseley, Birmingham, appeared at the city's magistrates' court on Thursday.

He was remanded in custody and will appear at Birmingham Crown Court on Monday.

Mr Campbell, who appeared in the dock wearing a black jumper and light-coloured jogging bottoms, is also charged with arson intending to endanger life and the attempted murder of Ms Skidmore's 80-year-old mother.

He did not to enter any pleas during the four-minute court hearing,
