Murder probe after woman found in Tipton house

A murder investigation has been started after a woman was found dead at a house in the West Midlands.

The woman, aged in her 40s, was confirmed dead at the scene inside the property in Standbridge Way in Tipton on Thursday afternoon, police said.

A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and remains in custody where he is being questioned by detectives.

The house has been cordoned off for forensic examination.

Det Insp Harry Harrison, from the force's homicide team, said the investigation was in its early stages.

"Our thoughts are with the victim's family, who are currently being supported by specially trained officers," he said.

"If anyone in the area saw anything or has any information which they feel may assist us, I would ask them to get in touch with me and my team."

Detectives said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
