Man jailed for killing friend in Aston tower block
A man has been jailed for battering a friend to death at a tower block flat they shared in Birmingham.
Anthony O'Connell, 41, of no fixed address, killed Andrew Davies-Stanley during a row over some missing money, police said.
The body of Mr Davies-Stanley, 51, was found in Barry Jackson Tower in Estone Walk, Aston, on 27 February.
O'Connell was jailed for 12 years at Wolverhampton Crown Court. He had been convicted at a trial in August.
West Midlands Police said Mr Davies-Stanley had died of head injuries.
They found O'Connell's were clothes stained with blood and discovered Mr Davies-Stanley's bank cards in O'Connell's coat pocket.
A crutch used by arthritis sufferer Mr Davies-Stanley had O'Connell's fingerprints on one end and blood at the other.
Det Sgt Mick Griffiths said: "This was a sad case where it appears two men, who were once friends, were arguing about money before one of them was killed."
