Birmingham thieves steal from woman helping dying cousin

Thieves took a sat nav device from a woman's car as she looked after her eight-year-old cousin who had been hit, and fatally injured, by a car.

The 21-year-old was cradling Charlie Dukes after he was struck in Bosworth Drive, Chelmsley Wood, on Sunday afternoon.

Charlie, from Selly Oak, died in hospital the next day.

Police said she left her own car unattended, at an Asda car park, and thieves got in and took the sat nav.

A 45-year-old man has been interviewed over the collision.

Police are asking anyone with information about the accident and about the sat nav theft to contact them.
