Birmingham to Coventry trains delayed by line damage

Trains between Birmingham New Street and Coventry were severely delayed after damage to overhead lines.

Network Rail said the problems at Berkswell were reported at 04:55 GMT and were related to the power supply.

Services on London Midland were suspended, with delays also on Virgin and Cross Country trains.

The line was reopened shortly before 13:00 and London Midland. Coaches were put on between New Street and Birmingham International.

Chiltern and Virgin trains also accepted London Midland tickets.

The line problems also caused knock-on delays to other services running out of New Street station.
