Thousands of homes have had water restored in Birmingham following a mains burst.

Severn Trent said several areas of the city had been affected over the weekend by the problem at Frankley treatment works.

Homes affected included 2,900 properties in Great Barr, 1,500 around Northfield, 600 in Selly Oak, and 2,700 in Bartley Green.

All water supplies were restored by Monday morning, Severn Trent confirmed.

The firm said the interruption to the water supply could cause the water to appear slightly yellow or orange in colour for a short period, although this should not pose any health risk.
