The mother of a man killed when he was struck by a lorry in the West Midlands has paid tribute to her "highly thought of and well respected" son.

Sartaj Aziz, 26, from Brierley Hill, died in Thorns Road, Quarry Bank, at about 15:30 BST on 20 August.

Garret Fitzpatrick, 27, of Brierley Hill, has been accused of Mr Aziz's manslaughter.

He was remanded in custody after appearing in court in Wolverhampton and is due to appear again on 7 November.

Mr Aziz's mother, who did not want to be named, thanked everybody for their "beautiful flowers, cards, thoughts and prayers".

"Sartaj was 26-years-old. He was highly thought of and well respected, by not only his friends and family, but the larger community in the Lye area," she said.

"I was very proud of my son and he will be missed forever and a day."
