Aston Villa fans are organising a charity football match against former players in support of the club's captain who has leukaemia.

Stiliyan Petrov was diagnosed in March. In August, the club said he was in remission.

A group of fans bid £1,000 in a charity auction to stage the game against the Aston Villa Lions and Legends.

They hope to raise yet more money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research at the match in Halesowen on 18 November.

Organisers said they hoped Petrov would be able to attend the event.
