Man arrested over Bournville College stabbing

A man has been arrested after a teenager was stabbed outside a college in Birmingham.

Police were called to Bournville College in Longbridge Lane at about 13:30 BST after reports a 17-year-old boy had suffered a serious stab wound.

West Midlands Police said he was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The force said a man was arrested in connection with the assault near to the scene about an hour later.

Det Insp Justin Spanner said: "We are in the very early stages of this investigation and are still speaking to witnesses."

A large number of officers were sent to the college to reassure students and local residents, the force said.
