Chloe West stabbing accused appears in Dudley court

An man has appeared in court accused of the attempted murder of a 14-year-old girl who was repeatedly stabbed near her West Midlands school.

Chloe West was stabbed 11 times as she walked to Ridgewood High School in Stourbridge on Friday.

Samuel Gayzer-Tomlinson, 18, of Turls Hill Road, Sedgley, was charged with attempted murder when he appeared at Dudley Magistrates' Court.

He was also charged with wounding and possession of an offensive weapon.

Mr Gayzer-Tomlinson, an A-level student, was remanded in custody to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on 28 June.

Chloe was airlifted to hospital with neck, face and upper body injuries. She has since undergone surgery and is now recovering at home.

The school was closed after the incident but reopened on Monday.
