Third arrest after murder of Kingstanding shopkeeper
A third person has been arrested over the death of a shopkeeper in north Birmingham.
The 48-year-old man was attacked at Select Convenience Store, College Road, in Kingstanding during a suspected robbery on Saturday evening.
A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. A man, 26, and woman, 25, were arrested on Sunday.
West Midlands Police appealed for help in tracing four men seen running from the shop after the attack.
Acting Supt Richard Youds, of West Midlands Police, said: "At this stage, the motive for the attack seems to be robbery of the store.
"Four men were seen running from the shop just after the incident in the direction of Dovedale Road.
"We would like to speak to anyone who saw these men running from the store or anyone who has information that could lead to their identity."
The man and women who were arrested on Sunday morning, were also being questioned on suspicion of murder.
Abid Hussain, who runs the Dixy Chicken outlet in College Road, said the man who died was a father-of-three who was originally from India.
He said he was "a very sensitive man, a family man".
Police were called to the shop at about 2150 GMT on Saturday.
Officers said they found a man with stab wounds and despite the best efforts of medics he was a pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
The results of a post-mortem examination are expected to be released later.
Officers were studying CCTV footage which the force said would not be released as it was part of the inquiry.
