A 38-year-old man has been charged with murder over the death of a woman whose body was found in a Birmingham park.

Michelle Stonall, 34, from Kingstanding, was found dead in Sheldon Country Park on Saturday, police said. Post-mortem tests showed she had been strangled.

The man charged is to appear before Birmingham magistrates on Friday.

Ms Stonall's family said she was a loving sister and daughter and they "miss her dearly".

Michelle's sister, Tracey Harvey, appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

She said in a statement: "She was a loving daughter to her mum, dad and loving sister to her brother and two sisters.

"The family are very distraught, devastated and going through a really tough time. We love and miss her dearly.

"She will always be in our hearts and never forgotten."
