Police are searching for an elderly woman who has been missing since the weekend.

Beatrice Stafford was last seen getting off a bus in Maidenhead on Sunday.

The 83 year old was spotted at the junction of Altwood Road and Barnard Road at 16:30 GMT.

She was reported missing on Wednesday after failing to turn up to a fitness class. Police said her disappearance was "out of character".

Ms Stafford is about 5ft tall, of slim build, with short wavy grey hair.

She was last seen wearing a royal blue fleece, black trousers and black trainers with white soles. She was carrying a patterned purple, mauve, white and cream shoulder bag.

Sgt Chris Quinlan said: "This is out of character for Beatrice as she regularly walks around Maidenhead however is normally home by 16.30 GMT.

"She did not attend fitness classes at Magnet Leisure Centre on Monday and at the United Reform Church, where she usually goes on Tuesdays, so we are concerned for her welfare."
