M4 reopens after closure caused by fatal lorry crash

A pedestrian has died after being hit by a lorry on the M4.

The motorway reopened at 10:40 BST following the crash, which happened just before 03:00 between junctions 10 and 11 - the exits for Wokingham and Reading.

The pedestrian died at the scene. Police said the lorry driver was uninjured but was in shock.

Thames Valley Police said it expected the road to remain "heavily congested" for some time.

Insp Andy Storey asked anyone driving on the M4 near junction 11 at the time of the crash to contact the force.

He said: "We are trying to determine the circumstances which led to a pedestrian being on the motorway.

"In addition there are ongoing inquiries to identify the pedestrian at this time."
