A £1.1m revamp to a road near Reading has been completed ahead of schedule.

Lanes on the Reading-bound stretch of the A3290 Loddon Viaduct at Winnersh have been closed since 22 July.

Wokingham Borough Council said good weather and less repair work than originally anticipated allowed construction to finish early.

The authority said the viaduct, which had been due to re-open in September, was expected to fully reopen from 06:00 BST on Saturday.

Drivers reported major delays as a result of the works, with some journey times more than doubled.

The viaduct required new bridge joints, safety barriers and resurfacing work.
