Suspected illegal immigrants arrested in Thatcham
Eighteen men have been arrested on suspicion of immigration offences in Berkshire.
Police were called to Colthrop Lane in Thatcham, at about 10:00 GMT, after a group of people were seen getting out of a lorry.
Officers arrested 17 men on suspicion of offences including entering the UK without leave and without a passport.
The lorry driver, 45, was arrested on suspicion of helping an asylum seeker to enter the UK and is in custody.
The other men are also in custody and will be referred to Immigration Enforcement, police said.
Officers are in the area conducting searches, assisted by the National Police Air Service helicopter, the force added.
