Fire wrecks workshop on Whitley industrial estate
Part of an industrial estate in Reading had to be cordoned off when fire ripped through a workshop containing an acetylene cylinder.
Fire crews from six stations spent three hours tackling the blaze in Cradock Road, off Basingstoke Road.
Emergency services, including the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), were called just after 04:30 GMT.
A 200m cordon was put in place because of the danger posed by the tank of flammable gas.
Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue said no one was injured.
South Central Ambulance Service said two ambulances, a rapid response vehicle and four HART vehicles attended as a precaution but most were stood down when it was established no one was inside the building.
A HART team remained with the remaining fire crews, who left at 10:00.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
