Man jailed for raping child over seven-year period
A man who repeatedly raped a child over a seven-year period in what the judge described as a "campaign of abuse", has been jailed for 17 years.
John Ketter, 48, pleaded guilty to 10 counts of rape - six of those involving a child under the age of 13.
Reading Crown Court heard he attacked the girl between 2006 and December 2013 at addresses in Slough.
Det Con Emma Skinner, from Thames Valley Police, praised the victim's bravery in coming forward.
Ketter was given a 17-year prison term for each count of rape of a child under 13 and a 12-year term for each of the other rape counts, to run concurrently.
Det Con Skinner, from the force's child abuse investigation unit, said the offences "were of the utmost seriousness".
"It is because of the level of his offences that Ketter now faces a long time behind bars to reflect upon his actions."
The victim's bravery in coming forward had helped put "a dangerous offender in prison", she added.
