London 2012: Groups in Reading can apply for Olympic grants

Community groups in Reading can apply for grants of up to £10,000 to fund work tied to the Olympic and Paralympic Games, it has been announced.

The council has £42,000 available this year and £74,000 next year from its culture and sports grants programme.

Clubs and organisations offering programmes for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities were likely to be successful, the council said.

Reading is one of the towns hosting the Olympic torch relay.

There is no deadline for applications.

Groups offering projects linked to the Diamond Jubilee celebrations are also invited to apply.
