Bracknell woman, 57, dies in three-car Crowthorne crash

A woman has died following a road accident in Berkshire amid icy driving conditions which gripped the county.

Emergency crews were called to the Crowthorne bypass on Sunday at about 1000 GMT to reports of a serious crash involving three vehicles.

The 57-year-old from the Bracknell area, who was a passenger in a VW Polo, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident closed the busy road for several hours while an investigation was carried out.

Thames Valley Police said icy conditions contributed to dozens of calls about road collisions on Sunday.

It said about 95% of its calls throughout the morning were about crashes.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
