Woman knocked down by own car in Windsor petrol station

An 80-year-old woman suffered serious head injuries when she was knocked down by her own car as it was being refuelled in Berkshire.

The woman was standing behind her Vauxhall Corsa in the BP garage in Windsor on Friday morning when it moved backwards, knocking her over.

Her vehicle hit another car, also a Corsa, causing minor damage.

Thames Valley Police said the woman was being helped to refill her car at 0845 GMT when the incident happened.

The forecourt on the Maidenhead Road was closed for two and a half hours while police examined the scene.

The woman was taken to St Mary's Hospital in Paddington where her condition is described as stable.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
