A woman's body has been pulled from the River Thames in Berkshire.

It was found in the water on Tuesday about half a mile from Mapledurham Lock in Purley, near Reading.

Thames Valley Police said it was too early to say whether the death was suspicious but an investigation has started.

A post-mortem examination will be carried out on the woman's body, which has yet to be identified, to establish the cause of death.
