Slough artwork removed over health and safety fears
A piece of artwork in Slough town centre is to be taken down over health and safety fears.
The Lamplight, in the High Street, will be removed with immediate effect after council engineers spotted structural problems with it.
It follows similar issues with another piece of artwork, The Radar, which was removed a year ago.
Discussions are now set to take place to find a replacement with the artist and the company which made it.
Because of the problems with The Radar, The Lamplight was regularly inspected by council engineers who spotted the fault.
Fencing has been placed around the piece to protect people until it is removed.
The council admitted it was "disappointed" but public health and safety was a priority.
"We are now in talks with the artist who designed the feature, along with the two companies who made and installed it for an alternative piece to take its place."
