Pint glass attack man barred from every Reading pub
A man has been barred from every pub in Reading for alcohol-related disorder, including throwing a pint glass at a bar worker.
Marcus Foster, 42, admitted assaulting the employee - who was not badly hurt - at a pub in Friar Street in June and received a community order.
Police have now successfully applied for a drinking banning order.
It also bars Foster, of Hatford Road, Reading, from buying alcohol from off-licences and drinking in public places.
The order, only the second handed down in the Thames Valley, will last two years after it was granted by magistrates.
Pc Katy Fisher, from Reading police, said: "Marcus Foster is well known in Reading town centre for alcohol-related disorder, particular in relation to football matches.
"The incident in June was particularly nasty as he threw a pint glass at a member of bar staff in the bar and the glass shattered. Fortunately the victim was not badly injured.
"This order gives police additional powers to deal with Foster and shows that we are prepared to try innovative ways of tackling persistent troublemakers."
