Pitstone crash leaves one-year-old boy dead

A one-year-old boy died when he was hit by a 4x4 vehicle in a Buckinghamshire village, Thames Valley Police said.

The victim was declared dead at the scene in Long Hale, Pitstone, at 15:20 BST on Tuesday.

A 71-year-old man, from Cheddington, arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and child neglect has been bailed.

A 26-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man held on suspicion of child neglect remain in custody.

Supt Olly Wright said: "I recognise incidents of this can be upsetting for residents, and I thank people for their patience whilst police officers carry out their enquiries in the village."

Officers have asked for anyone with information to contact them.
