A 17-year-old youth has been arrested in High Wycombe on suspicion of "arranging funds or property for the purposes of terrorism", the South East Counter Terrorism Unit has said.

Officers from the SECTU unit - led by Thames Valley Police - said the arrest was related to overseas conflicts.

Supt Ed McLean said there was no threat to people in the Buckinghamshire town and "should have very little impact".

"The arrest was not in response to any immediate threat to safety," he said.

"Our officers will continue to maintain a presence in the area, offering reassurance to the local community."

The teenager was arrested in a pre-planned operation just before 11:15 GMT.

The force said it wanted to reassure people the arrest was "not linked to any immediate threat to local communities or anywhere else in the UK".
