CCTV footage has been released of a hit-and-run showing a pedestrian being knocked down and left lying in a road.

The man was hit by a black saloon car as he crossed a road in High Wycombe.

Footage shows the car brake sharply and then speed off, with the driver apparently having "no regard for the injured man left lying in the road".

Police have appealed for the driver and witnesses who came to help the victim, aged 50, to come forward.

The man was taken to hospital with knee injuries, but has since been discharged from hospital.

PC Tom Smith urged the driver to come forward.

He said: "The CCTV shows the driver clearly brake sharply and then speed away with no regard for the injured man they leave lying in the road.

"I would also like to speak to the young man who was also trying to cross the road behind the victim, and who went to the man's assistance after the collision."
