A Championship footballer accused of assaulting a man in a restaurant will face a retrial after a jury failed to reach a verdict earlier this month.

Darius Henderson, 31, of Markyate, Hertfordshire, had denied grievous bodily harm when he appeared at St Albans Crown Court.

He was accused of assaulting John Bell, 41, at Darcy's in St Albans on New Year's Eve 2011.

The Nottingham Forest striker is due to appear at the same court in February.

The jury at his earlier trial was discharged after more than five hours of deliberations.
