Ram set alight and killed near Tewin Water, Hertfordshire
A ram was set on fire and killed in what Hertfordshire Police have described as a "cruel and shocking incident".
The animal is thought to have been set alight sometime between 18:30 BST on 5 August and 11:00 the following morning.
The ram was in a field near Tewin Water, close to Welwyn Garden City.
PC Simon Tibbett, said: "Thankfully this is an isolated incident and I would like to reassure the public that it is being thoroughly investigated."
It is not known how the offender, or offenders, set fire to to the ram, and there was no other damage caused to the field.
The attack is being treated as arson and police have appealed for witnesses.
