Woolmer Green police pursuit deaths: Man in court

A man has appeared in court after a car pursed by police hit a lamp post in Hertfordshire, killing two passengers.

Karl Spencer, 25, died at the scene when an Audi crashed in Woolmer Green at 02:40 GMT on 2 November. Cameron Nimmo, 20, died the next day.

Michael Cush, 27, of Luke Place, Bedford, faces two counts of causing death by dangerous driving and related charges.

He was remanded in custody at St Albans Crown Court until 16 January.

Defence barrister Liam Walker did not make an application for bail.

Mr Cush is also accused of aggravated vehicle taking, failing to stop, driving with no licence and having no insurance.

A 21-year-old man from Bedford arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking in relation to the case has been bailed by police until February.

The crash is being investigated by Essex Police and has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
