A505 road death: Man named as Oliver Pritchard
A man who was hit and killed by a car on a Hertfordshire road on Saturday has been named.
Oliver Pritchard, from Hillside in Royston, was walking on the A505 close to Slip End Farm, Ashwell, near Baldock when was hit at 05:30 GMT by a BMW.
The 22-year-old, who worked as a production operative at Johnson Matthey, died at the scene.
His family said they were "absolutely devastated".
"Ollie was a strong-willed character who knew his own mind," they said.
"He was a lovely lad, who would help anyone out if they needed anything and who always had time for other people. We will all miss him terribly."
It is believed Mr Pritchard was walking eastward towards Royston, between the two Ashwell junctions, when he was struck.
Hertfordshire Police said the incident was not being treated as a hit and run case, but while some cars stopped at the scene, others drove past and may also have hit the victim.
The investigation is continuing and police would like to speak with anyone who was driving eastbound on the A505 around the time of the incident.
