Four men questioned in Hertfordshire lay-by murder probe

Four men are being questioned on suspicion of murder after a 29-year-old man was found dead in a Hertfordshire lay-by.

Mohim Miah was found in Ferrers Lane, Wheathampstead, at about 17:40 GMT on Friday.

Police said Mr Miah, who was pronounced dead at the scene, could have been injured in an earlier incident.

Two 27-year-old men and two others, aged 30 and 40, are being held in custody on suspicion of murder.

Det Ch Insp Mark Ross, from the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said: "We are looking at the possibility the victim did not receive his injuries in Wheathampstead and have reason to believe there were other incidents in St Albans which may be connected.

"I am asking for the public's help in providing information about these incidents."

Police said they wanted to speak to anyone who saw "suspicious activity" in Newgate Close, St Albans on Friday.

They also want to trace witnesses to a fight between three men in Spencer Street, St Albans at about 8pm on Friday.

Mr Ross said: "A team of detectives are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding Mohim's death, which is currently being treated as murder.

"Specialist family liaison officers are supporting his family and our sympathies are with them at this distressing time."
