Thirteen people have been arrested after a series of incidents in Watford on Tuesday night.
The arrests came after police were alerted at about 20:30 BST by the public that a number of vehicles had been damaged in the Exchange Road area of Watford.
Hertfordshire Chief Constable Andy Bliss said the county had not seen widespread criminal disorder.
He said any signs of trouble had been dealt with promptly.
The chief constable said his force had plans and the resources to deal with any incidents if they arose.
Four people were arrested by Thames Valley Police for criminal damage and disorder on estates in Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire on Tuesday.
