Police officer jailed over indecent images of children
A Buckinghamshire police officer who downloaded thousands of indecent images of children has been jailed for eight months.
Pc Philip Strolin, 50, from Thames Valley Police, had earlier admitted one count of possession of 6,893 indecent photographs of children.
The road policing officer also admitted 12 counts of making indecent images.
He resigned after being arrested last year after working as a police officer for 22 years.
Officers from Strolin's own force raided his home last November after receiving information from the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre.
The judge at Swindon Crown Court said: "It is very sad to see someone like you in the dock facing these serious offences.
"You knew what you were doing was illegal and you must have known that the nature of the offences encouraged the abuse of young children."
Strolin was also placed on the Sex Offenders' Register and his two computers were ordered to be destroyed.
