Teenager charged with murder over Luton park stabbing

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of a teenager who was stabbed to death at a park in Luton.

Police were called to reports of an assault at Kingsway Recreation Ground on Saturday afternoon.

Michael Simwanza, 17, of the Farley Hill area of Luton, was found with stab wounds and died in hospital soon after.

The 17-year-old charged over his death, who cannot be named because of his age, is due to appear at Luton Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

Police said a 34-year-old man from Luton, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and being concerned in the murder of Michael, had been released on bail.
