Pedestrian injured in Aylesbury hit-and-run

A pedestrian has been taken to hospital with severe head injuries following a hit-and-run in Buckinghamshire.

A 23-year-old man from Hertfordshire was found lying injured in London Road near Aston Clinton, Aylesbury, shortly after 0545 GMT.

He has been taken to Stoke Mandeville Hospital and is in a life-threatening condition.

Police said from debris found at the scene they believed the man was hit by a Vauxhall vehicle.

It is thought the man could have been hit from 0200 GMT onwards.

Pc Jim Lovell said: "There is no way the driver of this vehicle wouldn't have realised he had hit something.

"I would like to appeal directly to the driver of the vehicle involved in the collision to come forward and contact the police."
