Bedfordshire Police search for dead man's car

Detectives investigating the death of a man whose body was found in roadworks in Bedfordshire are trying to trace his car.

Zafar Khaliq, 43, of north London, who was reported missing on 15 July, was found on the A421 Bedford bypass at Brogborough on Thursday.

Police said his car is a silver VW Golf, registration number YT54 KLK.

A man appeared at court earlier charged with Mr Khaliq's murder and was remanded in custody until October.

Wayne Grimes, 36, from Shirley Road in Abbots Langley, Hertfordshire, is also charged with obstructing a coroner in his course of duty.

Kieran O'Brien, 29, from King's Cross Road, Hemel Hempstead, also appeared with Mr Grimes at St Albans Crown Court charged with obstructing a coroner and perverting the course of justice

He was also remanded in custody.

A 29-year-old man from Hemel Hempstead and a 25-year-old woman from Borehamwood have been released on police bail.

Det Ch Insp Mark Ross said: "We are appealing to anyone who may have seen this particular vehicle in the last two weeks to call us urgently.

"It may be it has been parked somewhere and abandoned."
