Mother dies after Sandbach house fire which killed her son

A woman has died two weeks after her eight-year-old son was killed in a house fire.

Kelly-Anne Carter, 35, died at a property in Coleridge Close, Sandbach, Cheshire, during the early hours of Saturday.

Her son Lucas Carter died shortly after being rescued from a fire in Platt Avenue on 30 October in which Ms Carter was also injured.

There were no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death, police said.

Offley Primary School, where Lucas was a pupil, said his funeral was due to be held at St Mary's Church on Friday.

"We now learn that Kelly-Anne has also died making this so much harder to bear for the family and all who knew them," a school statement said.

"This is a very difficult time for the family and for Offley Primary School as we try to comprehend what has happened and support the children, staff and the school community at this distressing time."
