Crew rescued before fishing boat sinks in Christchurch Bay

Two crewmen have been rescued shortly before their fishing boat sank.

RNLI crews from Yarmouth and Lymington took the men off the 45ft fishing boat after it began taking on water in Christchurch Bay on Saturday afternoon.

Despite efforts to pump water out of the vessel, the RNLI said "excessive debris" inside the craft meant it had to be abandoned.

A coastguard spokesman said it was called later to help deal with some of the wreckage.
