Two Sheffield men jailed over Skegness armed robbery

Two men involved in an armed robbery during which staff were threatened with a gun and a 20-inch-long machete have been jailed.

Masked men burst into a Spar shop, on Winthorpe Avenue, Skegness, on Christmas Eve and stole £964.

Michael Elston, 34, from Sheffield was jailed for five years and seven months after admitting armed robbery.

Brian Buttery, also 34 and from Sheffield, was jailed for three years after admitting assisting an offender.

A third person, 47-year-old Vivianne Agus, of Emerson Crescent, Sheffield, was handed a six-month prison sentence suspended for two years after she also admitted assisting an offender.

All three were sentenced at Lincoln Crown Court.

Det Sgt Lee St Quinton said: "This was a serious, well-planned crime which had a significant impact on the victims and was shocking for the local community."
