Image caption Matt Clark took this picture on Saturday, 16 January looking north east from White Scars towards Ingleborough, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. "Most of the snow had fallen on the previous Wednesday evening into the early hours of Thursday. The temperature was around -5C at the time of the photo. Cloud was encroaching from the north west after a clear night, on the leading edge of a weather front which brought further snow to the area from late afternoon Saturday."

Image caption Dan Ransley took this image at RSPB Otmoor in Oxfordshire. "Just as the Sun dipped below the horizon, thousands of starlings began to gather for the evening. The roar of their wings beating was exhilarating, and I could feel the rush of the air moving below them as they all swept in to roost in the reed bed just a few yards in front of me. The sheer scale of it was magnificent!"

How to submit a picture

If you have a picture you'd like to share, email us at england@bbc.co.uk, post it on Facebook or tweet it to @BBCEngland. You can also find us on Instagram - use #englandsbigpicture to share an image there.

When emailing pictures, please make sure you include the following information:

  • The full name of the person who took the pictures (as this person owns the copyright);
  • Confirmation that the copyright holder gives permission for the BBC to use their pictures across all its outputs;
  • The location, date and time that the pictures were taken;
  • Your telephone number so we can get back to you if we have any further questions;
  • Any other details about the pictures that may be useful for us to know.

Please note that whilst we welcome all your pictures, we are more likely to use those which have been taken in the past week.
